How long it takes to get you better (and therefore how much it costs) varies depending on your age, your condition and how long it has been affecting your life. The average number of visits is 6-8 but some take more, some take less. When you first come in to see us you will probably be in an acute stage where we need to control both how you are feeling and also what is happening inside you. What you can feel (pain) and what we can feel on examination (the inflammation, the stiffness and the alignment) can be very different.
As you start to feel much better we will still in all likelihood be working on the inflammation, movement and alignment. The good news is the pain is the first symptom to disappear even though the inflammation and misalignment is still present underneath. You may feel you are recovered and want to stop coming at this point. However, in most cases where we have detected an underlying problem we advise continuing your treatment a little longer because as your body goes through its gradual healing process it enters what we call the corrective phase. That is where the various tissues such as weak muscles and either shortened or lax ligaments need to re-adapt as we continue to correct the faulty alignment and function of your joints. Like braces on teeth, if correction stops too soon things can quickly move out of alignment again.
Once this further correction has taken place your joints muscles and ligaments should be stable enough to maintain you in a healthy state for long periods of time, provided of course you alter the lifestyle factors we may have highlighted as possible causative factors in the problem. After that we then move into the final stage: A recommendation we sometimes make for patients who are at a particular risk of degenerative wear and tear, either as a result of damage already incurred or who may be at higher risk due to their lifestyle or occupation, is a regular maintenance visit. Just as you would visit a dentist, you come every few months to have a full check over to fix any problems that might have been creeping back and could possibly lead to a subsequent painful inflammation, and more importantly, be increasing your risk of that silent killer, degenerative wear and tear.
Information...
We are covered by all the main insurance carriers and you might find therefore that your treatment plan is covered completely, however, if you don’t have insurance, we recommend having a look at the Leeds Hospital Fund scheme, for a small monthly fee (about £15) you can get 50% of your fees paid back to you. If you join over the phone and agree to pay by direct debit you can be covered immediately. Once you finish treatment you only need to give one months notice to opt out of the scheme. Many of our patients find it invaluable and many continue to use this to claim their fees back for the regular maintenance visits. We feel it’s a great scheme and can literally cut your costs in half!

In rare cases, we also understand that although we may be doing all we can to fix the body, it still fails to respond and this can be due to other factors such as stress, emotional and other lifestyle factors that manifest in the body. Simon Smith is also an NLP master practitioner which gives him tools to specifically address those emotional issues. So we really do approach your problem from all angles (for more information click here)- NLP consultations with Simon are £50 for initial consultation and then £30 follow up or repeat visit. In other cases where we consider we are not the best choice of treatment or practitioner, we promise to refer you on to someone who we think can help you as soon as possible.
